Position Title: INTERN
Basic Purpose:
The Intern reports to the Project Manager with additional reporting to the Operations Manager. Duties and responsibilities of the position include the following: coordinates project activities with direct supervision from Project Manager; performs accounting activities with assistance; performs estimating functions as requested with assistance; and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
I. Coordinates project activities with direct supervision from Project Manager.
· Assists/conducts weekly job meetings and prepares meeting minutes.
· Identifies and resolves potential problems regarding documents.
· Prepares and updates overall project schedules.
· Takes progress photos as needed.
· Tracks all material deliveries.
· Expedites and reviews shop drawings.
· Maintains shop drawing log in Timberline.
· Coordinates daily construction process with team.
· Prepares and distributes addenda and plan revisions.
· Assists Superintendent with layout, calculations, etc., as requested.
· Assists Superintendent with formulation of operational production goals and measurements.
· Prepares and updates submittal logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
· Performs timely completion of project close out activities.
II. Performs accounting activities with assistance.
· Drafts purchase orders, subcontracts and change orders for review by Project Manager/ Operations Manager.
· Submits all purchase orders, subcontracts, change orders and correspondence to Project Manager for approval.
III. Performs estimating functions as requested with assistance.
· Prepares solicitation list of subcontractors and suppliers.
· Tabulates and evaluates bids.
· Performs quantity survey.
· Performs initial pricing of estimate with assistance.
Addition Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Working towards a B.S. in Construction, Engineering or related field or equivalent through experience.
Experience Preferred: Working knowledge of a construction industry
Minimum Qualifications:
· Competent knowledge of basic phases of construction projects.
· Satisfactory knowledge of mathematics functions (geometry, basic algebra).
· Competent computer skills (Excel, Suretrack and Timberline).
· Satisfactory ability to schedule your own time effectively to accomplish tasks.
· Satisfactory ability to develop and maintain project schedules and project budgets and to identify changes and discrepancies.
· Competent ability to present information in a clear and understandable manner in both written and verbal form.
· Satisfactory ability to work with others in a team environment, exercising effective interpersonal skills.
· Satisfactory ability to accept constructive criticism.
· Competent ability to perform all work in a timely, professional and efficient manner while effectively communicating and interacting with customers, clients, subcontractors and other third parties.
· Ability to comply with all company policies, practices and standards of performance.
· Satisfactory attendance.
